Weekly Check In September 18th

Hello Team,
Everyone is adjusting well and easing into their workout schedule. Next week we will move from an endurance building focus to technique as we begin to prepare for the meet season.
New Parent Orientation: There is a mandatory new parent orientation this Friday at 6:30 pm.
Scan those cards!: All swim team members must also be Boys and Girls Club members. Please scan your card upon entering the building. In an emergency this will help us know who is in the building. If you do not have a card, please check with the front desk.
Nationals Orientation: On Friday, October 6 at 6:30 we will have an informational meeting for all those interested in attending nationals or just are curious about it. This meeting will review the process required to attempt to make nationals as well as qualifications and other topics.  We highly recommend all those considering going to nationals to come, including those who have attended nationals before. Even if you do not think nationals is for you it is a great way to learn about a facet of the team. This is during a family swim so children may swim while the parents meet.
Friday Video Training: Starting this week we will have video training for all ages before practice on Friday. We will meet from 4:30-5 in the conference room next to the games room. The training will include videos and discussion on technique. Each practice wek has a theme and he focus of these videos will be the basis for what we will be  working on the following week in practice.
After the video training the 11 and under swimmers will report to the pool and the 12 and up  swimmers will go to land work, which will be followed by swimming.
Meet Schedule:  The schedule is up! https://www.billericabgc.com/meet-information .
Everyone must attend 5 of the 8 meets during the regular season in order to qualify for Sectionals. If your child misses more than 3 meets they will be dismissed from the team and practices immediately. Medical exceptions can be made for long term illnesses or injuries. Please don’t hesitate to ask us questions.
We assume everyone is coming to every meet unless notified otherwise through the meet special requests site. This will be up and running soon, more information when it is live.
You may notice on the schedule a meet with more than one team, this is a tri-meet. Three teams will compete at the same time. Each swimmer will still only swim 3 races as usual and I do not expect the meet to go long as the other two are tiny.
Allergies: I thought it was worth noting again:
We have a swimmer has a severe nut allergy. Please no nuts in the pool area or at meets. If nuts is your protein of choice for after practice, please leave them in the car and eat them on the way home.

Also, I have a severe melon allergy- all forms of melon. Please none in the pool area or at meets and please do not allow you children to eat it immediately before coming to practice.
Sunday and Wednesday Practice- Start in October, information coming soon.
Team Suits-  Information coming soon.
FINS- We are not utilizing fins yet, but they will be incorporated into practices as the season progresses for the 13 and up practices. If you do not have fins yet, we recommend short blade training fins such as “Speedo short Blade Training Fins”, “TYR CrossBlade Training Fin” or “Finis Z2 Gold Zoomers”. Please no long fins. Some children like to add fin socks that cut down on chafing. This is optional.
